State-of-the-Art Technology in Central Connecticut
At Avon Oral, Facial and Dental Implant Surgery, we want to give our patients the best possible care using the latest surgical and diagnostic technology available today. To do so, our offices are outfitted with cutting-edge technology designed to take high-quality, three-dimensional images of your anatomy for extremely detailed information about your condition.
Benefits of 3D Scanning and Digital Imaging
- Your surgeons can view your facial features, bone health, and soft tissues from virtually every angle.
- Our office can share these images with other members of your care team instantly—no waiting on photos to develop and arrive through mail.
- Patients are exposed to significantly less radiation than traditional 3D X-rays.
- 3D scans are used to produce virtual surgical guides, increasing the accuracy and efficiency of your oral surgery procedure.
- By eliminating film, developer, and chemical waste, digital scans are better for you and the environment!
Digital X-Rays/3D Scanning
Digital X-rays create incredibly detailed images with substantially less radiation exposure than conventional X-rays. The improved diagnostic capability of digital X-rays allows us to form the most accurate treatment plan possible for your procedure. The ability to view the X-rays on a computer screen allows you to better understand and follow your treatment. Digital X-rays are instant, so there is no longer a need to develop the film.
Cone Beam Scanners
Cone Beam technology provides a digital tomographic 3D view of the patient’s area of interest. A traditional X-ray is only two-dimensional. With Cone Beam systems, the doctor can get a full 360-degree view of the tooth and all surrounding areas. The 3D Cone Beam scanner provides nearly limitless views of the teeth while using less radiation than traditional medical CT technology. This new technology is fast, simple, and painless, providing many wonderful benefits that were unavailable only a few years ago.
Virtual Surgical Planning (VSP)
Using the most modern 3D imaging techniques in conjunction with biomedical engineers, our doctors can plan complex orthognathic, reconstructive, and trauma procedures. Surgical guides and implants can be custom fabricated specific to each patient in advance of their scheduled surgery. Through Virtual Surgical Planning (VSP), patients can expect increased precision, more predictable surgical outcomes, and more efficient surgery.
